What's the difference between All Over & Standard Screen Printing?

All Over Printing uses 40″ x 40″ boards that allow for the entire garment to be screen printed, past the normal limitations of a standard screen printing pallet. Standard Screen Printing is typically 15″W x 20″H, with the additional options to print Oversize (19″W x 23″H) and Jumbo (22″W x 26″H). Standard Screen Printing does not allow for printing over seams or printing completely to the edges of the garment.

What is the difference between All Over Screen Printing & All Over Sublimation?

Sublimation Printing:

  • No limitations on colors
  • Never cracks or peels
  • Great for photo images and patterns
  • Lower minimum order

Sublimation ink is a special process that requires a sublimation printing machine using special transfer paper and ink. It allows you to print multiple colors and vivid designs on a variety of garments and products like swimsuits, activewear, and home goods. All garments must be 100% polyester for Sublimation Printing.

How does it work?

When heated, sublimation ink turns into a solid gas that embeds itself into the fibers of polyester fabric. When it cools, it returns back to a solid and becomes a permanent part of the fabric. The transferred design adds no additional layer on top, resulting in a comfortable and seamless print.

All Over Screen Printing:

  • Print up to 4 colors max
  • 144 unit minimum order
  • Ideal for high volume orders
  • Long lasting and traditional print

All Over Screen Printing elevates the traditional method by allowing more flexibility with artwork sizing while still maintaining that classic band tee look and feel. It provides more versatility when it comes to garment choices, whereas with Sublimation you are limited to 100% polyester.

All Over Screen Printing is recommended for more simple designs without lots of colors or fine details that may get lost when printing over seams.

How does it work?

Screen Printing is the most traditional and popular form of garment printing. The stencil of your graphic is developed onto a screen, and ink is then pushed through the mesh to transfer your graphic onto your garment. Each color requires a separate screen which results in higher set up costs, but it produces high quality prints that will hold up for a long time and is cost efficient for bulk orders.

Keys to a High Quality All Over Print

All Over Printing offers a lot of artistic freedom, but it also comes with more quality control precautions than Standard Screen Printing.

Fabric

100% cotton recommended.

Print Placement

It is not recommended to print over pockets, due to the ink not laying flat and causing inconsistencies in the print.

Design Recommendations

A design that includes some distressing is recommended for All Over Prints to account for printing over seams.

Ink

Discharge Ink is highly recommended for All Over Printing to maintain a soft hand feel needed for the flexibility of going over seams. Enjoy printing up to 4 colors max!
